“Merory Box”
Elegant appearance in harmony with modern life
The name ‘Memory Box’ comes from our wish to offer a sanctuary for prayer and solace in the midst of today’s hectic life. We envision it as a versatile space, whether you use it to keep mementos and talismans of your loved ones, or as a personal place for prayer.
Artistic value from the fusion of lacquer and cloisonné
Yoshiko Hasegawa has introduced a series of innovative jewelry, crafts, and art pieces under the banner of ‘Urushippou.’ This technique melds the traditional Japanese arts of lacquer (urushi) and cloisonné, which boast a rich heritage of craftsmanship.
The ‘Memory Box’ represents the pinnacle of Urushippou technique, showcasing unparalleled luxury.
Forms and colors woven by skilled craftsmen
The ‘Zushi’ creates a space filled with tranquility and warmth, where prayers and memories are woven together. The craftsmanship involved in its creation showcases the dedication and skill of the master artisan, who pours his heart and soul into every piece.
The main body of the zushi is crafted from carefully selected wood, each layer of paint applied with meticulous attention. It features the inherent taste and warmth of natural lacquer, enhanced by hand-painting with care. Inside, the zushi is adorned with gold leaf, which casts a soft, exquisite light upon opening.
Each piece of vibrant cloisonné ware, painstakingly colored and kiln-fired, is unique, the only one of its kind in the world. The ‘Box of Memories’ transcends traditional craft, elevating it to the realm of art.
In addition to the finished product, the zushi “Memory Box” is also available for semi-custom orders, such as the design of the painting or the cloisonne ware part.
