A 1964, graduate of the Kyoto University of Education with degree in modern oil painting, Yoshiko Hasegawa went on to study cloisonn\u00e9 at the Kyoto Craft Institute.She developed an innovative material featuring silkscreen on cloisonn\u00e9 in 1976. \"My work has been shap\u00e9d by a continuous search for new materials and for innovative techniques that would lend themselves to multiple media and applications.\"<\/p>\n

The base of this piece is wired cloisonne, which is made by drawing a rough sketch on a base of copper or silver, outlining the outline with thin tapes of metal wire according to the rough sketch, applying glaze in between, firing, and polishing.<\/p>\n

A silk-screening technique is used for surface designs.<\/p>\n
